After viewing old house after old house at weekend open homes and knowing our lifestyle meant we didn’t want to be spending our nights and weekends renovating, we decided to look into building in a new subdivision instead.
We honestly had no idea building a new home would be achievable as first-home buyers but figured trying our luck wouldn’t hurt! We initially met with a different home and land provider who gave us an estimated completion date of June 2020, which was over a year away. After hearing great things from others, we got in touch with Suanne Jackson from Generation Homes instead, wanting to see what they could offer.
Sue met with us after hours one weeknight and offered us the perfect little section. After hours of talking and looking at plans and options, we got right onto our bank so we could set up the contract and seal the deal.
Once the decision was made, it was a quick journey through to our Colour Consult - another few hours spent here, we didn’t realise we were quite so picky! Dee was fantastic at providing us the options and quickly picking up on the style we wanted for our new home. Choosing all the materials, finalising the upgrades and having pictures of the chosen colours made it all a reality and we couldn’t believe it was happening.
From there, Sue would send us regular photos of the site work being completed and the scaffolding going up. A promised completion date and a 16 week build time meant it took no time for the pieces to start coming together. With our handover date scheduled for shortly before Christmas, we were always second guessing if we would get in on time, especially due to the horror stories we had heard from those who had gone with other companies.
Thankfully, we actually ended up in the property a day early, and Generation Homes were true to their word with not going even a day longer than they promised.
Special thank you to Sue, Wade, Hamish and Ben for ensuring we were looked after from start to finish. Throughout the entire journey, the whole team were there for us, no matter how many questions we asked or changes we wanted to make (sorry again team, I was unlikely your easiest customer!). They were all easy to get a hold of and quick to respond – nothing was too hard for them and they were really committed to ensuring the house was how we wanted.
We love being in our new home, especially as we were able to make it our own. We have already made use of the referral scheme with our close friends now building just up the road from us too!
Our journey with Sue and the team has made us love the build process, and we can’t wait to build with Generation Homes again down the track.
