This was our first time building a new home.

We decided to build with Generation Homes in Milldale after talking with Victoria at the show home.

Right from the get go we knew that we wanted to build a house with Anna at Generation. 

The finishing of this property was immaculate, both inside and outside.

Chun and I were very cautious about the idea of building a new home.  We have and continue to hear horror stories from friends and family about their experiences with building and development companies. This is our first home, and we were about to sink in a lot of hard-earned money into the unknown. Suanne Jackson was a well-experienced and warm Generation Homes consultant who stayed with us through the whole process from start to finish - from welcoming us into the show home and showing us the empty lot, right through to walking us through our newly built house and handing us the keys. We chose our house plan from the many, many options, and we were able to make so many design changes to make the house our unique home that fits our needs, alongside tasteful, on-trend colour, and interior design consultants.  We didn't have to worry about any of the 'nitty-gritty' building processes or project management - it was all handled by Generation Homes. When our foundations were laid, around mid-April, we were given the hand over date - mid August, a mere 4 months. It's the end of August and here I am writing this now having moved and lived in our new GH built home for two weeks already. Our friends and family (including us) are shocked that Generation Homes has delivered exactly as per contract signed months ago. The set total price has remained the same set total price. This is despite the shipping delays, shortages in materials, and rising building costs throughout this year and last. I could go on and on, more than I already have. We were kindly referred to Generation Homes by our friends who were in the middle of building their new house in Milldale. They knew we were looking to build our family home and suggested we speak to Suanne Jackson to see if she had anything that would match our budget of what we were looking for. After doing our homework in previous years with researching new builds and looking at different building companies speaking to Sue was like dream work and our hearts started to race after speaking to her that we might finally, be able to get the house we have dreamed of. Generation ticked all our boxes we were looking for fixed price, quality, and guaranteed move in date! We met with Sue one weekend onsite and she drove us around Milldale and showed us the perfect section, next step was the house plan that was going to be built here. The first plan she showed us ticked all our boxes, three generous bedrooms, two bathrooms, walk in wardrobe, two living areas, open plan family and kitchen area, indoor outdoor flow to the patio. We were also pleasantly surprised they included everything from blinds, letterbox and right down to the clothesline within their pricing, so we had no hidden costs apart from our upgrades we included. We then went to our bank to get the process started. Not long after signing the contract, we had our title issued, council consent and onto the colour consultation with Dee. We were told this could take a few hours; however, we had our hearts already set on colours and ideas, so it did not take long at all before these were signed off with some helpful suggestions from Dee.  From here everything moved rather quickly, slab was down, and frames went up. We could not believe that in 16 weeks’ time we would be living in our brand-new home and this would end our renting journey. We were given regular updates of the build and kept up to date with walk throughs with the team. COVID hit which we thought here we go with the delays – however, the team pushed on when the restrictions lifted, and it was only a delay of four weeks. We were finally able to move into our dream family home; the handover went seamlessly where we popped the bubbles with the team to say thank you for the exceptional care and quality build you have given us. The whole experience was stress free and easy and if we were ever to build again, we would not hesitate to contact the Generation Homes team and would highly recommend them to anyone. Almost exactly a year ago to the date, on a wet and wild morning Steven and I drove up to Milldale’s Open Day.

We were under the impression that we wouldn’t be able to build in our preferred suburb of Riverhead for under 1 million, until we came across Generation Homes.

This build was completed in 15 weeks from slab down and the clients moved in on Friday 14th December 2018, which was only four months after first meeting the clients!

I met Michelle and Grant at the Millwater showhome on the 11th September 2018 . They wanted a large new build on a site suitable to park a largish boat, with the street wide enough to allow access ( many streets aren’t as when cars park either side you can’t get a boat through) I love a challenge and knew none of our existing sites would fit these requirements, so I set to and found them an 817m2 site for sale privately. I arranged for Michelle and Grant to view the site and they said it was perfect for them. I then did due diligence in the site, ensuring it was flat, had a good sunny aspect and checked the engineers reports for the soil conditions and the As Built plans for drainage pipes to ensure there would be no problems in the build. They put a conditional offer in the site and paid us the $5k design deposit and we went straight into a design meeting, drew their concept plan for a single level 248m2 home to their requirements and budget and then priced the job up, so they knew their fixed contract price before committing to the section purchase. Everything aligned as expected, so they purchased the site and went unconditional on their build with us. We then completed their working drawings, obtained council consent and started on site on 14 Nov 2018 Their build was completed in 16 weeks from slab down ( 19 weeks from starting on site) When had a 3 week shut down over Christmas in addition to these weeks. These clients moved into their beautiful home yesterday 11 April 2019 and are absolutely thrilled with their stunning new home. Another Generation Home completed both 100 % on time and on budget. We walk the walk and don’t just talk the talk with our clients. We complete all builds with passion and a great team effort from all staff. Dint and Margie Rice, Riverhead Point Margie and I were desperate when we approached Generation Homes. We had committed to a land and house package from plan and the subdivision was taking years longer to develop than had been advertised. In the meantime, I had retired, and we were paying exorbitant rent each week. Not usually risk-takers, we visited the Generation show home and were so impressed by the ‘no pressure’ approach and genuine concern of Peter, Hamish and the team that we signed up the next day, BEFORE we had extricated ourselves from the other deal. The only stresses during the build were about on-selling the other package. The build itself was magic. We were given a timetable locking down when each step in the build would take place and were even given, at the outset, our move-in date. If they were late with anything, it was by a few days only and they soon made up for it. By and large, they adhered to their schedule as closely as a Swiss train would adhere to its and we moved in on the date they had stipulated during one of our earliest meetings. Virtually without exception, our neighbours, all of whom have had houses built by Generation, feel the same way as we do and keep extolling their praises. This especially when we all witness delays with some of the other building companies in the area, up to five months in some cases! We have had guests who are knowledgeable about building and carpentry and they have offered unsolicited comments on the good quality of the finishes in the home.  If there have been any minor flaws, the folk from Generation have come back promptly to check up and have the problem sorted. In fact, one of the things we have so valued is the friendliness – the waves, the toots, the ‘how are yers’ from the Generation staff. It has contributed to our feeling part of this great Riverhead community. Our risk certainly paid off and we are extremely happy in the Riverhead community and in the retirement home we dreamed of having. We keep saying thank you that there were such delays with the other subdivision. We honestly don’t think we could have had a better experience than we had with Generation Homes. The quality of the build is amazing! The inevitable problems that do occur are sorted with minimal fuss and I always felt that they had my best interests at heart.

We did look at the many show homes in the area but in our opinion none lived up to the Generation Homes package.

After being in building for over 40 years I can say without reservation that signing a contract with Generation Homes (West Auckland) was one on the best decisions we ever made.
